Wanda Jean Webb Johnson - Harrison was a caring wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She passed away on August 27th, 2021 at the age of 53 after valiantly fighting an illness brought on by COVID-19. She was born to Miles Johnson and Senolia Webb on February 6th, 1968 in Chicago, IL.
As a child, Wanda was happy, smart, quiet, liked to read and was an exceptional student. She attended Melville Fuller School but graduated from Irvin C. Mollison School as Class President with excellence in math, language, science, creative writing, and Spanish. She was also a courageous lunchroom monitor. Wanda then attended Hyde Park Career Academy where she was a member of the pep squad and earned multiple honor awards.
After graduating from high school in 1986, Wanda enrolled at Northwestern Business College where she obtained an associate degree in the medical field. She excelled as an undergraduate student and an employee there. She was known as hard working, always laughing with joy on her face and having a beautiful soul.
Upon graduation, Wanda started her first professional job as an accountant and was known for her strong work ethic and cheerful attitude. She eventually went on to work at First Chicago Bank doing data entry, but her time there was short lived due to developing carpal tunnel.
While living in the Ida. B Wells housing complex during her teen years, she met Calvin Harrison, who she befriended. Their longtime friendship turned into love and the two married in May 2000. They lived in Highland, Indiana until her death.
Wanda loved to do puzzles, play board games, watch old movies and TV shows. She also enjoyed being around family and friends and was a member of Holy Vessel Baptist Church. When you think of Wanda, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
Wanda was proceeded in death by her mother Senolia Webb, father Miles Johnson and sister Rosia Marie Webb.
She leaves to cherish loving memories to her husband of 21 years Calvin Harrison, brothers: Alonzo Webb Jr., James Webb (Marion) and Willie Webb (Shelia); sister: Marie Cheiron and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and supportive family and friends.
Wanda was also blessed to have a few very special friends: Helima and Sirrena; who will fondly recall the many memories they made together.
Wanda’s bright smile and loving embrace will be sorely missed. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us.
Arrangements for Wanda entrusted to Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch: 13300 S. Houston Ave., Chicago, IL 60633 (773-646-1666). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 10 AM until 12 PM. Interment Private.
