Tillmon Worth Smith, affectionately known as “Smitty”, was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, February 18, 1939 to the late Richard and Mary Smith.  Tillmon was the youngest of 5 sons.

On December 31, 1944, the Smith family migrated to the Southside of Chicago to raise their family. Tillmon was educated in the Chicago Public School System attending Shoop Grammar School and graduating from Crane High School. Tillmon continued his education and earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

They were best friends. Being the gentle person that Smitty was, his presence was always felt.   He was a companion, a provider, and a solid supporter of his family.

Smitty had a wonderful family life and education was a priority which he instilled in each of his girls.  Shelley, Donna, and Tatiana achieved and complete his desire for higher education. Smitty loved life throwing weekend club parties, playing the trumpet and watching the Bulls Basketball team. Smitty’s life is a reflection of God’s power and strength when words are not needed.  His presence will be felt and remembered by those who knew him.
