Thomas R. Maciel, age 84, of Chicago was called to be with his heavenly father on January 22, 2024.
He was born in San Benito, Texas on September 19, 1939 to Macedonio Maciel Sr. and Jesusa Salazar. He was raised by the Rodriguez family, spent his early years of life living in Texas, married, moved, and called Chicago home. He was a former migrant farm worker and retired as a truck driver for Rosebud Farms.
Some of his pastimes included: gardening, working on cars and trucks, playing practical jokes, being the life of the party, biggest supporter of Pepsi, honey buns, and snickers, attending music festivals, listening to a wide variety of music some of his favorites include: Ja Rule, Tina Turner, blues, and anything Tejano. If you knew Thomas you knew he not only loved to listen to music but he especially loved to dance. He was known to clear and light up many dance floors with his loving wife of 37 years Amparito “Annie” Maciel. As Tejano singer Emilio Navaria’s song “Juntos”- you are back together dancing on streets of gold. He spent the latter part of his life at Victory Center Assisted Living Facility and then Aliya Nursing home.
He is survived by his loving children Thomas R. Maciel II (Patricia) of Seattle, WA, Maria Maciel of Grandview, WA, Beatrice Perales (**Ernesto) of Outlook, WA, Sandra Moreno (Gerardo) of Grandview, WA, Maricella Maciel, South Holland, IL, Melinda Maciel, and Roxanne Davis (Lorenzo), University Park, IL. 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Brothers: Frank (Jill) Houston, TX, Alejandro ”Alex”, Roberto “Robert” , Yoakum, TX, David (Rebecca) Huntsville, TX. Sisters: Paula Ramirez, Rose Mata, Adilmira “Mila” (Jim) Nolte, Celia “Sally ”Mauric, Jovita ”Dobie” Johnson, Yoakum, TX, Josephina “Josie” Garcia, Edna, TX,, Mary (Daniel) Loa, Helen Soto, Victoria, TX, countless friends, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, god children.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Amparito "Annie" Maciel, grandson Thomas R. Maciel III, parents Macedonio Maciel Sr., Jesusa Salazar Maciel, Maria Segura Maciel, brothers Maurice “Bubba” Maciel; Vicente Rodriguez, Guadalupe Vittonet, Juan Rodriguez, Porfirio Rodriguez, Antonio Rodriguez, and Cosme Rodriguez. and Macedonio “Jr” Maciel. Sisters: Manuela “Dorothy” Sanchez, Maria Angelita Garcia, Marcelita Juarez, Eugenia Flores, and Alice “Honda” Nunez.

Funeral mass Monday, January 29 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial Oakland Memory Lanes.
