Robert Pena Obituary

The world will never know another man like Robert "Kenny" Pena (Michelle Sheahan). Son of Julia Reyes (passed on) and Eduardo C. Pena (passed on); Adored brother to Jose "Joe" Reyes, Patricia "Tisa" Reyes-Candelario, Blanca "Bubbles" Rodriguez, Eduardo "Eddie", Elizabeth "Lisa", Daniel "Danny" (passed on), Henry "KiKi" Pena (Dawn), Frank "Frankie" (Veronica), and George "Georgie" Pena; Beloved father of Rachel, Robert Jr. (Elizabeth), and Luke Pena; best grandfather of Mila Pena; Devoted uncle to all his loving nieces and nephews; and true friend to all who his presence graced. Robert gained his wings on January 1st, in the year of 2022, in his bedroom of his son's home, with all his family around him.

Robert was born in 1970 at South Shore Hospital and taken home to the industrious and historical South Deering neighborhood, to the 105th block of South Hoxie Avenue. Robert was number 7 of 9 children. Robert overcame childhood arthritis when he was still an infant, with all the support from his loving parents and siblings. As Robert grew up, he would overcome many obstacles in life. Robert learned in his youth to work hard for what he wanted. From jumping on the bus to shine shoes downtown with his younger brother George, to selling tamales with his mother and siblings, Robert was always the definition of a working man. By the age of 16, Robert was an accomplished painter, drywaller, and he would reach Journeyman level status in his later years, a union tuck pointer. At this same age, he met a young girl who fell in love with Robert instantly, and this love was the starting point of his fatherhood. Their relationship started at 13 and 16 years old, and from these 3 beautiful pieces of them were created. Their relationship ended sadly after 17 years together, yet their friendship lasts forever even on today's date. From their rich taste in music to their matching hairstyles, they would forever be bound by the legacy of their children and granddaughter. Robert had a great heart, and all of his siblings loved him for simply being himself. Their years growing up at 10515 and 10522 South Hoxie Avenue will forever be some of the greatest moments they shared together. Robert's Unconditional love for his brothers and sisters and their children knew no boundaries. His name will forever live in their minds, hearts, and mouths. His last greatest accomplishment was the ability to heal and mend his sibling's relationship back together, and this brought him happiness and peace. "Kenny" is synonymous with the word friend, because everyone who entered his life knew they could call him their friend. Even for being an intimidating boxer in his youth, everyone knew his heart and intentions were good. Robert always wanted the best for everyone around him and would give the shirt off his own back if need be. To all who considered Robert their friend, he truly loved you.

Robert lived a full and complete life, filled with family, love, adventures, travels, and many talents. His name lives on forever through his children, granddaughter, siblings, nieces and nephews, and all friends. Robert "Kenny" Pena, although now in heaven as an angel soldier in God's army as he always aspired to become, is here with us forever.
