Our beloved Refugio Vitela, Grandchild to (paternal) late Demetrio Vitela and late Anselma Cordero and (maternal) late Cleofas Iglesias and late Amelia Lozano. Son of late J. Jesus Vitela and late Maria Iglesias. Brother of late Salvador Vitela and Pedro Vitela. He is survived by his loving and caring wife Marta Vitela and his three sons Guillermo, Arturo, and Victor. He leaves behind his amazing grandchildren Eliana, Ray, Yazlin, Angel, and Esmeralda. He now Joins his late Granddaughter Penelope.
Refugio Vitela was born in Jalpa, Zacatecas. In search of the Americana dream he migrated to the United States in his young 20's. He spent time in California and Indiana until finally settling in Chicago IL. He married at age of 33 and raised a family of three beautiful children. He provided for his family as much as he could to make sure nothing was needed. Refugio had a life-long passion and interest in the sport of baseball, and he passed the love for the sport to his children. Refugio enjoyed watching both Chicago teams with his family. Even while battling cancer nothing lifted his spirits more than catching the game on TV. Although he ultimately succumbed to his condition, he demonstrated an incredible spirit and perseverance. Refugio will always be in our memories.
