Lupe Escalante Bjork (Pancha) Age 69, of Hegewisch passed June 5, 2020. Loving wife of John Bjork. Beloved Daughter of Late Guadalupe Deleon, Miguel Mendez and Victor Pagan Deleon. Loving Mother of Leon Jr “Wicho” (Donna), Eric D (Katya), Emmanuel (Marissol). Loving Sister to Late Esperanza (Renee) Panigua, Late Juanita (Ronald) Devon, Robert (Rose) Deleon, Miguel Mendez Jr, David (Lupe) Mendez, Raul Mendez, and Rosa (Steven) Maldonado. Loving Grandmother of Desiree, Eric Jr, Sophie, Kaylee, Emmanuel Jr. Dear Aunt of many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She also had a special place in her heart for her pets.

Pancha was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister and Aunt. She was loved by everyone. A devoted Christian & Catholic. She grew up in the Bush and South Chicago attended Sullivan, Phil Sheridan, Bowen and Cortez Peter Business College.

If your old enough you would find her as waitress at TNT restaurant in South Chicago back in the 60”s. She went back to Business School where she received her Diploma and got hired a month later at City Hall Department of Planning where she retired after 22 years as an Executive Secretary; not too bad for a waitress from South Chicago.

She loved her Music, Oldies forever, Mexican and Puerto Rican Salsa and she could dance to them all. Her home was the Pancha & Jay Leopard Motel they would welcome anyone to stay out of towners or even in towners that was the place to stay. She was always a sharp dresser and had her own unique style. She had a heart of gold and would take the responsibility of being the Secretary for the family. She loved her Puerto Rican Dishes & Mexican Concha’s. Pancha loved to go to the Casino and was a great bargain hunter and loved a good Garage Sale.

She was strong willed and courageous women.

We will always carry her memories in our hearts. Pancha we love you and will dearly miss you.
