Obituary

In loving memory of Enrique Renteria. Enrique was born August 13th, 1953, in Nuevo Ideal, Durango, Mexico to the parents of late Pedro and Enriqueta Renteria. He came to live permanently in Chicago, Illinois in 1976 and began his career at Carl Buddig & Company in South Holland, Illinois as a meat packer for over 30 years until he retired. He leaves behind his wife, Alicia Renteria, two children, son Jose Renteria (Maria Del Real) and daughter Yesenia Renteria (Juan Ruiz) as well as three grandchildren, Diana Renteria, Alexa Renteria, and Julian Renteria. He is survived by his brothers and sisters; Esperanza, Primitivo, Anacleto, late Santiago, Margarita, Evangelina, Manuel, Maria Concepcion, Maria Dolores, Carmen, Abelardo, Pedro Renteria. As well as many nieces and nephews and their children. Enrique had a passion for music all his life, he eventually joined a band growing up in Chicago called “Siglo XX” where he was the singer and played the bass guitar. At any family gathering we had he would bring his guitar and he would just play and sing his heart out all night for everyone. When family would visit during the holidays, they would all sit around the table or living room and everyone would join in with guitars, keyboards and anything they could find to create amazing music. He began to teach his two children as they got older and passed down his love of music to them. He had a love for gardening, he started his own vegetable garden along with so many beautiful flowers he would plant all over. He loved being outdoors, tinkering in the yard, playing outside and making memories with his granddaughter Diana. Most nice days he would spend outside just taking in the sun with his wife and enjoying the cool breeze, also telling many of his “dad jokes”. Enrique was a hardworking, kind, and gentle man, he always had a smile on his face that was so infectious you couldn’t help but smile yourself. He cared so much for his family even until his final day. He will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends. As hard as it is for us to say goodbye, we know that he is resting now and no longer in any pain; we find peace in knowing that as we say our final goodbye to Enrique Renteria who was a son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many.
