Edward Joseph Schuman 72, entered eternal life on Monday, September 28, at Ridgewood Care Center. A fervent Catholic and formerly a member of St. Columba Church in Hegewisch, Illinois, Edward graduated from St. Columba's grade school and St. Francis de Sales High School. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from DePaul University. He lived in Calumet City for many years, assisting a dear friend, Lee Rydeberg in his refrigeration and appliance business: “Home Refrigeration” Ed later lived at Ridgewood, where he was greatly loved for his sense of humor and kindness to staff and patients. He was twice voted to the "Court" for Ridgewood's "Senior Prom" and was affectionately called "Artist in Residence" because he so enjoyed drawing and painting. Ed's family is very grateful to Ridgewood's staff for their care.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Mary (Sweany) and Leo Edward Schuman; his sisters, Rosemary (Bill) Blair; Loretta Therese (Harold) Cobern; and his infant brother, Leo Joseph.
His sister, Mary (Lee) Kaboski, fondly remembers many visits to Ridgewood, when she and Lee played Scrabble with Ed, and his memory is also cherished by four nieces, five nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial to commence at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, IL.
