Bertha Margarita Guzman

Bertha Margarita Guzman, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of South Chicago, and Azusa, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 27th, 2023. She is survived by her loving daughter, Leticia (Marcos) Salamanca nee Guzman; her two loving grandsons Adrian and Christian Salamanca; her sisters, brother, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Melesio Guzman, parents, and brothers. 

Bertha will be remembered for her contagious laughter and beautiful smile. Being a former cosmetologist at Carson Pirie Scott, she is remembered for classy sense of style, always dressed in her pearls, with a sprit of Chanel perfume. Her powerful gaze and laugh would light up any room. She always made sure to care for those around her, especially the little ones in her family. She showed her love through her cooking and gardening and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. For fun, she enjoyed her nights at the casino, playing the ladybug machine, and her yearly trips to California, where she could see the beautiful mountains and feel the warm sun on her skin. Bertha Margarita Guzman will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bertha's memory, to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org, and would be greatly appreciated. The family is incredibly grateful for the support and kindness that has been shown to them.

Arrangements entrusted to Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch: 13300 S. Houston Ave., Chicago, IL 60633. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023  from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Prayer Service to commence at 7:00 pm. Interment private.
