Trudy Dzialakiewicz Altendorf, age 90 of Hegewisch formerly of Germany, passed away on August 30, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.After leaving war torn Berlin in 1947, she married and settled in Hegewisch where she raised her family. She became very active in the Hegewisch Community Committee, even teaching knitting to those who wanted to learn. She was very involved in St. Florian Church / School, including being a past President of the Mother's Club. She was a member of the Daughter's of Isabella and an avid Canasta player.Upon returning to her native country of Germany, She settled in the City / State of Langen. Being fluent in both English and German, she became an official translator of the court system. She is survived by her loving children... Vickie (Tom) Urban, Kathy (Rod) Sellers, Barbara (Larry) Kostecka, Mark (Candy) Dzialakiewicz, David (Roberta) Dzialakiewicz, daughter-in-law Nancy Sadowski Dzialakiewicz and 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husbands: Alfred Dzialakiewicz and Wolfgang Altendorf, her son Armien Dzialakiewicz and stepdaughter Nelchen von Rekowski.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 10 AM until 12:30 PM at Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch: 13300 S. Houston Ave. Chicago, IL 60633 (773-646-1666). Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 1 PM at St. Florian Church of Hegewisch with Rev. David Simonetti officiating: 13145 S. Houston Ave. Chicago, IL 60633. Burial to immediately follow mass at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery: 801 Michigan City Rd, Calumet City 60409.
