Obituary

Sherrie Rudzinski age 84 passed away peacefully March 18, 2021. Sherrie was born in the bush neighborhood of Chicago. She grew up in the front yard of the steel mills, and attended Sullivan elementary school and CVS high school. She met the love of her life, Harry, and they were married at Saint Michaels Church and they lived 61 wonderful years together on the southeast side. Her lifelong passion was swimming. She swam miles of laps at the pools of the Hammond Civic Center, the South Chicago YMCA, and Mann Park. Sherrie also loved and cared for her many pets over the years, and enjoyed going to the casino boats to play the penny machines. Sherrie is preceded in death by her husband Harry Rudzinski. She is survived by her children, Jim (Carol) Rudzinski, Jay Rudzinski,  and Jamie Hanekamp. Her grandchildren, Melissa Hanekamp, Alison (Zack) Coleman, Emily Rudzinski, Brian (Heather) Rudzinski, and her great-grandchildren, Aleena, Bryce, Zachary, Lily, Madison, and Harris. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch: 13300 S. Houston Ave. Chicago, IL 60633 (773-646-1666). A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 29th, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Florian Church of Hegewisch. Inurnment to proceed on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL 60421.
