With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Reyes Alvarado, of the South Chicago and Hegewisch Neighborhood, who passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family in Chicago, Illinois. Reyes was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege to know him.
Reyes was the loving husband of Catherine Alvarado. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. He was the proud father of the late Angela Alvarado, Reyes J. Alvarado, Manuel A. Alvarado, and Roman A. Alvarado, instilling in each of them the values of hard work, loyalty, and compassion. His love extended beyond the immediate family, encompassing many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. Reyes loved each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply, and his simple days spending time with extended family was the corner-piece of all that he loved and held dear.
Known for his remarkable strength and unwavering spirit, Reyes approached life with a sense of courage and humor that endeared him to everyone around him. He worked tirelessly, always putting the needs of his family above his own, believing that love was best expressed through actions. His enduring presence inspired those lucky enough to be in his life, teaching them resilience in the face of adversity.
The void left behind by his departure is profound. The laughter shared, the lessons imparted, and the memories forged together will forever resonate amongst us. As we gather to honor the legacy of Reyes Alvarado, we acknowledge the love he poured into our lives and the strength he shared so freely.
Reyes Alvarado’s story will continue to live on through the memories we cherish and the lessons he taught us all. He leaves us with a profound example of how to love deeply and maintain strong resilience to live fully and happy throughout the many ups and downs of life. Lastly, Reyes was a man who consistently demonstrated the importance of family and friends as a cornerstone, and necessity of a life well lived. Lessons learned from Reyes Alvarado will forever live in the hearts of all those who were blessed to have experienced and enjoyed life with him.
Funeral Arrangements for Reyes Alvarado entrusted to Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch: 13300 S. Houston Ave., Chicago, IL 60633. Memorial Service for Reyes Alvarado will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Prayer Service to commence at 7:00 PM. Time of Remembrance to follow at 7:30 PM, allowing family and friends to come, pass around the microphone and together share memories and reflections to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Reyes Alvarado. Disposition Private.
Reyes will be dearly missed by all who knew and love him.
