Peter Barrera, from the East Side and South Chicago neighborhood, passed away on June 9, 2024. Widowed from his beloved wife, Esther Barrera. Loving father to Peter Jr (Candice) Barrera and Rachel (John) Barrera-Partner. Proud grandfather to Maggie, Allie, and Olivia Partner. Caring brother to the late James (Amparo) Barrera, the late Linda (Godofredo) Chavez, the late Sergio (Cynthia) Barrera, the late Rudy (Yolanda) Barrera, the late Mario (Clare) Barrera, Yolanda (Robert) Galvan, Armando (Denise) Barrera and Antonio Barrera. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was born on February 5, 1955 to Sergio and Esperanza Barrera.

Peter grew up in the South Chicago neighborhood, where he met and married the love of his life in 1977. He worked as a laborer the steel mill, and eventually for the city of Chicago, from the 1980's until he retired. Peter was a man who loved music and laughter. But above all else he was a family man. Over the years, his kindness and generosity have impacted the lives of many friends and relatives.
