It's with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Matilda Burgos .She passed away peacefully at Avantara Evergreen nursing home surrounded by her family members, her devoted roommate, Joanne, her nurses and Gentiva hospice care.

She was a long time South Chicago resident. She was a devoted Catholic who never missed a day of her daily devotions. She worked for United Air Cleaner until she retired. She helped make air filters . she got a certificate from the government for helping with the filters for the Desert storm war. She loved to take care of the flowers and vegetables her landlord would plant in the backyard. She'd love to go shopping and get lost for hours going over the same grocery aisles. She would pick up each item read the ingredients and put it back on the shelf. We would take her to her favorite place the casino. She was so little we couldn't find her when we were ready to go. She would be sitting with her cross in her mouth, and her fingers crossed, pressing the buttons.

Matilda was born to the late Victor(Victoria)nee Delgado Burgos in Yabucoa Puerto Rico. She had two sisters the late Easter (Julio) Ortega and Esperanza (Agustin) Diaz. She had three brothers the late Luciano (Luisa) Delgado , the late Pedro( Iris) Burgos and the late Tomas (Carmen) Burgos. Many nieces and nephews.

Matilda was a loving single mother, she worked  hard and never asked anyone but the Good Lord for help to raise her daughter Yvette (Carrasquillo) late Danny Carrillo. Her three loving sons, George (Clara Sanchez) Carrasquillo, Victor (Marlene) Carrasquillo and Radamas Noel (Debbie) Carrasquillo. She was a grandmother to nine. A great grandmother to thirteen and a great, great grandmother to two.
