IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juan "Johnny"
Garcia
November 4, 1953 – February 10, 2025
Johnny was born and raised in Chicago, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication. He met the love of his life in 1976, and after years of companionship, they married in 1991. A hardworking man, he spent 22 years at General Mills before dedicating 25 years to the City of Chicago's Streets and Sanitation Department, where he took immense pride in his work.
Deeply religious and full of life, he had an unforgettable laugh and a natural ability to connect with people. Outgoing and sociable, he never met a stranger—wherever he went, he either knew someone or they knew him.
Above all, he was a devoted family man—a loving husband, a proud father to his daughters, Kathleen (George †) Garcia and Yvette (Roy) Garcia, and an adoring grandfather to Dominique Reyes (Alfonso Venegas), Armani Garcia, and Romeo Garcia. He also cherished his role as the greatest great-grandpapa to Gemma and a beloved Godfather to Nathaniel Garcia. His heart swelled with pride at every accomplishment of his family, always cheering them on.
He was always present—whether it was school drop-offs and pickups, doctor's appointments, grocery runs, or simply surprising the family with lunch or donuts almost daily. He found joy in family time, watching movies, playing lotería and cards, and putting together puzzles. He had a creative spirit, spending hours cutting out magazine clippings and making collages, even using pictures of strangers that reminded him of loved ones.
There was nothing he wouldn't do for his family and friends. His kindness, laughter, and larger-than-life presence leave behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was truly one of a kind.
