Jose was born in Uruapan, Michoacán Mexico on September 18, 1953. His parents were Jose Antonio Hernandez and Lucrecia Diaz Hernandez. Jose was the fourth oldest of 10 siblings. His sisters: Maria, Rosa, Diana, Elisa, and Asunción. His brothers: Efren, Abel, Manuel, and Salvador. Jose went to Benito Juarez grammar school, followed by Erendira high school. He moved to Chicago from Mexico when he was 19. at the age of 21 he started working at Republican US Steel. He also worked at the casino driving garbage trucks. Jose loved sports. He played basketball for toreo bajo in uruapan, Mexico. He was a huge Bulls, Bears, and Cubs fan. His favorite player was Michael Jordan. Jose also loved to listen to music. His favorite singer was Juan Gabriel. Between 1985-86 he started dating Roseann Cantele. He asked for her hand in marriage and they got married on April 1,1987. The late Jose Hernandez passed away Friday evening on February 12. Jose was true to his catholic faith and religiously attended mass every Sunday at Our Lady of Guadalupe church on 91st St on the south side of Chicago. Jose was a kind and generous man. He always liked to dress well in his suits. He loved to go with his friends and have breakfast at the McDonald's on commercial Ave. He also loved to go to the casino with his friends as well. Jose was the loving husband to Roseann Cantele. Beloved father to Joey Hernandez. Dearest grandfather to Angel Hernandez and Cassandra Hernandez. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather , and a person so full of life. We will miss him dearly and cherish all the memories we have for years to come.

Prayer Service 8 PM.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church of South Chicago. Interment Private.
