Ms. Helen Livak, age 90, of Hegewisch (Chicago, IL) passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, August 28th, 2021.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Joseph G. Livak, her daughter Mary M. (Livak) Gradisher, and her son Joseph Livak Jr.

Born to Frank Berczeli, and Mary (Brindza) Berczeli on November 7th, 1930, Helen was the youngest of 5 children. She grew up in war torn Hungary and traveled to America in 1947. She then worked at her brother's restaurant located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. This was where she met Joseph. Together, they had three children, son Frank, daughter Mary (late), and son Joseph Jr. (late). A devoted mother and beloved wife, Helen loved being at home raising her children. She could often be found outside in her rose garden, or baking traditional Hungarian dishes such as her famous apricot, prune and nut Kiflis. Helen also loved to sew, knit and crochet, and took great pride keeping things very clean and organized.

Helen is survived in death by her son Frank E. Livak (spouse Janice M. Livak), granddaughter Cindy M. Livak (fiancé Michael J. Murr), nephew Stephen Joseph Livak (spouse Patricia Livak), grandnephews Stephen James Livak, Eric Livak and Justin Livak, and their beautiful extended families.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch: 13300 S. Houston Ave., Chicago, IL 60633 (773-646-1666).  A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 3 pm until 8 pm. Prayer Service to commence at 6:30 pm. Funeral Services to follow on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 8:30 am until 9:30 am. Prayers from chapel at 9:30 am for 10 am Funeral Mass at St. Florian Church of Hegewisch: 13145 S. Houston Ave., Chicago, IL 60633. Helen Livak will then be laid to rest beside her late husband Joe at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Calumet City, IL.
