Frank S. Labedz age 93 of Hegewisch passed away on May 31, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Frank grew up during the Great Depression and to help support his family he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp in his early teens. Frank was veteran of the US Navy serving as a Signalman 2nd Class on LST 482 during WWII. He retired after 30 years of service working at Continental Grain Elevator B, where he worked as a Weighman. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and member of the American Legion Post 330 and the Hammond Mohawks. Beloved son of late Stanley and Harriet Labedz. Loving husband of 69 years to Josephine Labedz (nee Jakubowski). Cherished father of Linnette (Jones) Drzewiecki, Collette (Phil) Kumiega, Celeste (Terry) Szany, Michele (Rick) Witkus and Ron (Ericka) Labedz. Dearest papa of Bobby, Stephanie, Caitlin, Nathan, Hannah, Sophia and Alex and great-grandfather of seven. Preceded in death by two brothers and eight sisters. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2 PM until 8 PM at the Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch 13300 S. Houston Ave. Chicago, IL 60633 (773-646-1666). Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 8 AM until 9 AM. Prayers from Chapel at 9 AM for 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Florian Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Calumet area. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Frank will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
