Dorothy M. Podgorny (nee Kostick) age 86, of Hegewisch passed away on June 8, 2017. Dorothy was retired from Republic Steel where she worked for many years and also from CPS where she worked for 25 years as a lunchroom worker at Phil Sheridan/Mireles Academy. Dorothy enjoyed bingo, vacationing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Florian Church in Chicago where she served on the Rosary Committee. Beloved daughter of late Ludwig and Mary Kostick, loving wife of late John Podgorny, cherished mother of Douglas Podgorny, Rosemarie Podgorny, Marc (Cathy) Podgorny and Dennis (Bertha) Podgorny. Dearest grandmother of Michelle, Jonathan, Amanda, DJ, Timothy, Nicholas and Jared, great-grandmother of Ayden and Nathan, loving sister of late Evelyn, late John, late Andrew, late Patrick and Eugene. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Sadowski Funeral Home of Hegewisch 13300 S. Houston Ave Chicago, IL 60633 (773-646-1666). Prayers from Chapel at 10:30 AM for Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home of Joliet, IL. Dorothy will be dearly missed by family and friends.
