Anya Marie Noormohammed, age 8, gained her angel wings on January 8, 2022, following a 2-year fight with PKAN. We weren't ready to lose her, but we know that she is in a much better place now. Anya was diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 6. Throughout her battle she was an absolute warrior, enduring so much with so little complaint. Anya was born in Chicago, IL on October 21, 2013. She was the beloved daughter to Alexis Velez and Irfan Noormohammed. She was the most amazing and loving big sister to Skylar, Andrew, and Leilani.

With her long brown hair, big brown eyes, and a huge smile, Anya would light up any room she was in. She spread love and laughter wherever she went. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her favorite people. She was such a little girl but always displayed such a big and joyful spirit. Anya loved princesses, baby dolls and Disney movies. She enjoyed coloring and dancing, and she loved to sing and be sang too. Anya Marie attended Mckinley Elementary School where she will always be remembered by her teachers as a smiley, always happy, smart and beautiful princess with a sassy sense of humor.

Anya is survived by her Grandmother Tracy Esparza, and Grandfather Edward Velez ; Aunts Isaura Velez and Lilyanna Salazar ; Uncles Rogelio Rodriguez III and Edward Velez Jr.  Anya was the best big cousin and will be deeply missed by her cousin, Christopher Albores Jr.  Anya loved many and was loved by so many more, she will be missed and remembered by her many relatives and friends.

Nothing can separate love. Because of this, we will always be connected. We love you Anya and we are so proud of you! We're happy that you're not in pain anymore. God has prepared a place for you where you are free of your earthly suffering. To dance, to play and to one day run into our open arms.
