Alicia Martinez's love of life didn't come to an end with her death. Alicia passed away on July 12, 2022 at the age of 50 after courageously battling a long illness.  Family members, extended family and friends will continue to honor her life by living their lives to their fullest-as she would want it.

She was born in Chicago and a true south side original. She loved all of Chicago-but especially loved South Chicago. Likewise, she loved all family members but especially loved her mother, Diana, her stepfather Manuel, her cousin Rudy Sinus, and long-time friend Joe Gonczy. She loved cooking and sharing her dishes with friends and family.

Though life may become complicated it was the simple pleasures in life that brought great joy to Alicia. She loved her dogs Chico and Cookie, long talks on the phone to keep in touch with others, preparing and sharing her enchiladas and chile rellenos with others, and getting around South Chicago on her motor scooter,

Her pleasant personality and sense of humor was contagious to everyone she met. She was kind and compassionate and gave great shoulder and back massages to anyone fortunate to have received one. Alicia is survived by her mother Diana L. Suarez, stepfather Manuel Olaguez, aunts Aurora, Rose and Emily Hernandez, uncles John and Sal Reyna, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
